I stepped through the graveyard,
looking for the ancient tree that stood in the grounds of St Mary’s Nether Alderley.
the yew tree in the grounds is over 1200 years old. yes that is not a typo.
Majestic, what it will have seen, how many have passed it’s way. Many a child to be baptized and returned wearing a shroud and over coat of wood not the equal of the tree.
Knotted and worn by the weather, the wood shows age, beauty and rich in many colours.
Not far from tree, Up the stairs walked
the vicar had not aware of the watcher, dressed in a dark hoodie.
Till he pasted him time of day
They spoke of weather and architecture. the vicar opened the door of the church and invited me in to see the inside of the church
where i spied this window with winters light pouring in
Today was fun, peaceful and enjoyable. Thank you to the vicar of St Mary’s Nether Alderley for his welcome and conversation. This is a beautiful place, well worth a visit and a stroll. I have been a few times before will be back in the future.
hope you have enjoyed todays pictures laced with words.
